With 4 springs and 4 shock absorbers a suspension upgrade on the Land Rover Defender is far from done. Most suppliers sell suspension springs and shock absorbers with TÜV.
However, what about suspension geometry? When the vehicle height on the Defender is changed due to a set of springs, the front axle shifts to the left. The wheels of the rear axle run quasi offset to the rear axle. As a result, the load on the suspension bushings and other suspension parts changes and may wear out sooner. At the same time, the vehicle pulls to the right when braking.

There is also the possibility to improve the axle articulation on the front axle, especially with progressive springs with coil-off on the front axle. This allows to find the right compromise between articulation and spring preload for any suspension / shock combination.
