Defender 90 outer cage without TÜV parts certificate. The roll cage of the Defender 90 corresponds to the design of the RBL1907SSS of the Defender 110 HT. The less robust aluminum roof of the Defender offers during an accident with rollover practically no protection for the occupants. In the USA, Land Rover Defenders were only allowed to be delivered with a Safety Devices outer cage until the early 1990s. This Defender was called NAS (North American Series). A Safety Devices outer cage offers several advantages, such as, for example, the protection of the body in heavy terrain. Further, the cage is a reliable roof rack system. The safety cage can take a higher roof load better than the original aluminum roof of the Land Rover Defender.
